Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 118:1-29. Verse 22, observing my daily life, would a stranger conclude I regard Jesus Christ as somewhat important, very important, or my everything? Why does the worldly mind refuse to build on him?
Zechariah 9:1-17. Verse 9, does my demeanor as Jesus’ disciple reflect the earthy humility of a donkey-riding Savior?
John 12:12-36. Verse 36, would a stranger coming into my church have the sense of passing from darkness into a place of light and being embraced there by children of light? What’s to be done? My role?
Matthew 21:1-17. Verses 12-14, related, would that same visitor experience my church as a place of generosity and honesty, mercy and justice, astir with prayer, alive with healing? Action point?
