Bible Friday 4/2: The Cross

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 22:1-31. Verse 1, when have I felt distant from God or even deserted by him? Verse 24, how did he then show up for me? Present application?

Zechariah 13:1-9. Verse 6, when it is said the wounds in Jesus’ hands, feet, and side are partly of my making, do I regard that as needlessly morbid or as convicting to me? If the latter, what am I to do about it?

Matthew 26:57-27:10. Verse 75, as the scene darkens for Christians in this country, what test of my fidelity to Jesus—similar to Peter’s test—might I have to undergo? How shall I prepare?

Matthew 27:11-61. Verse 22, “what shall I do with Jesus?” The most important question anyone can face, and that no one escapes facing. Whom do I know that needs to face this with my help one day soon?
