Bible Friday 6/11: Vertical or Horizontal?

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 103:1-22. Verse 9, when have I recently experienced God’s chiding? How did he do it? What was the result?

Leviticus 18:1-30. Verses 2-5, 24-29, right living defined vertically to us from God, not horizontally to us from others. How fully do I, my family, and my church uphold this standard? Action point?

Acts 9:26-30, 11:19-30. Barnabas as a mentor to the newly converted Paul. Whom has God put in my life needing Christian encouragement and aid right now? First step?

Mark 1:35-45. Verse 35, what do I prioritize, my personal comfort and convenience or the quantity and quality of my prayer life? What can I learn from this glimpse of Jesus’ priorities?
