Bible Saturday 6/26: Too Familiar?

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 137:1-9. Verse 4, what’s been determining my state of mind lately—bad circumstances or a good God?

Numbers 6:1-27. The consecrated life of a Nazarite. Is there something God would have me forever renounce from my thoughts or actions, in order to draw closer to him?

Acts 10:34-48. Verses 34 and 45, impartiality of the Holy Spirit. How does this story challenge my church to live up more fully to the inclusiveness of God’s grace? My role?

Mark 6:1-13. Verse 4, how can I get “outside” the familiarity of many years’ acquaintance with Jesus, so as to be newly astonished at his teachings and his works?
