Bible Friday 2/25: Look No Further

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 137:1-9. Verse 3, Babylonian captors taunt the defeated Jews. What are some of the ways in which the worldly mind mocks and taunts God’s people today? What’s my reply, to keep faith and not lose heart?

Jeremiah 10:1-25. Verses 23 and 24, straighten me out, Lord. I can’t do it on my own. In regard to what inner flaw or besetting sin do I make this appeal for God’s corrective hand?

Romans 10:14-21. Verses 14-16, what’s good and beautiful about the preaching in my church? What needs to be better? How can I better support those who do the preaching?

Matthew 14:13-21. Verse 16, they need not depart. How do I tend to narrow the ministry of Jesus by saying such-and-such is not the job of the church, not my job as an individual Christian? What’s one daring thing I could do instead?
