Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 109:1-31. Verses 18 and 29, moral or immoral attitudes enveloping one’s whole person like a garment. With what attitude shall I ask God to clothe me today?
Ecclesiastes 11:1-10. Verse 1, what bread can I cast upon the waters today, trusting God for undreamt-of blessings? Verses 4-6, what spiritual seed can I plant today, looking not to the weather but to God?
Romans 5:12-21. How am I benefited today by being in relationship not with the first Adam, exiled from Eden, but with the second Adam, Jesus Christ?
Matthew 12:31-37. Verse 35, if I had to itemize the treasure of my heart—good or evil or some of each—what would be on the list? What light does this shed on the way my life has been going lately?
