Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 119:129-176. Verses 136 and 158, what are some everyday offenses against God that sadden me? Is sadness a more appropriate reaction than anger? What’s to be done?
Jeremiah 5:1-31. Verses 8 and 27, animals of shame. In requiring me to behave as a human, not as a beast, what is God asking for? Is my church teaching this to our young people?
Romans 8:12-25. Verses 15-17, adoption into God’s family, with Christ our elder brother. What’s wrong with simply regarding all of the world’s 8 billion people as children of God? Is my church teaching this?
Matthew 13:24-35. Verse 33, the kingdom of heaven as yeast transforming all things. Day by day as God’s agent, am I changing the world or is the world changing me? Action point?
