Bible Monday 3/7: On Fire

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 12:1-8. Verses 2 and 3 KJV, flattery offends God. When might I be targeted by, or target others with, this form of bland dishonesty? What harm is done? Do I sometimes try to flatter God? Antidote?

Jeremiah 20:1-18. Verse 9, related point, Jeremiah feels God’s compulsion to speak hard truths, regardless of the cost to himself. Have I ever felt such a fire in my bones? What did I learn? Present application?

Romans 15:7-13. Verse 8, universality of Jesus’ saving ministry to all mankind. How can my church start living this out more fully? My role?

Matthew 17:14-27. Jesus promises that a tiny seed of faith, nurtured with prayer and fasting, will move mountains. What urgent need in my own life, or in our world, can this address today?
