Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 23:1-6. Verse 3, if God moves to restore my soul today, what would that involve? How would I know? How can I approach near enough to the Good Shepherd to allow that to happen?
Jeremiah 23:1-40. Verses 1-6, unfaithful shepherds whom God will punish and replace. How is such dereliction seen in the church today? How is the flock harmed?
Romans 16:1-16. Honor roll of Paul’s ministry partners in the church at Rome. If I made a list of some brothers and sisters dear to me in Christ, with a word or two about the gifts of each, what would it say?
Matthew 18:21-35. Does the picture Jesus paints here, someone who owes more to God and others than what he is owed by them, accurately portray my spiritual balance sheet? Why do I so often act as if it’s the opposite?
