Bible Monday 3/28: Godly Zeal

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 69:1-36. Verse 9, is God pleased with the zeal I express for him—its objective, its fervor, its methods? Action point for today?

Jeremiah 41:1-18. Bloody anarchy in occupied Israel. What would my church do if our community dissolved into lawless violence? Are we under a drowsy complacency that God wouldn’t let that happen here?

II Timothy 1:13-18. Verses 13 and 14 KJV, form of sound words… that good thing committed to you (NIV that good deposit). Are doctrine, dogma, and creeds rightly valued at my church? Too much? Too little?

Matthew 24:15-28. Verse 24, what form are false Christs likely to take in our times? What’s my test or toolbox for seeing through them and sticking to the one true Christ?
