Bible Tuesday 4/5: Free Indeed

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 85:1-13. Verse 10, looking at my own life and the wider world, where do I see a conflict right now between mercy and truth, righteousness and peace? How can God help me harmonize those?

Jeremiah 49:1-39. How angry is God against the nations of the earth at present? How can I and my loved ones be sheltered from the judgment he may be preparing? Action point for today?

Titus 2:1-15. Standards of character within the Christian community. Is God well pleased with my church’s adherence to this?

John 8:21-36. Verse 32, often quoted out of context and so misapplied. How does freedom in Christ differ from today’s worldly notions of freedom? In following the news, do I tend to overweight the latter?
