Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 144:1-1-15. Verse 12, praying that a loved one will flourish and shine. Am I clear that no matter how intense my concern for a family member or dear friend, God loves that person even more than I do?
Ezekiel 15:1-8. God warns Israel: Don’t flatter yourself that you’re anything special, except by My grace. Do I sometimes drift along with shallow optimism, mistaking it for clear-eyed Christian faith?
I Peter 4:12-19. Verses 12-14, partake of Christ’s suffering. What opportunity (even if small) is there for me to do this in the here and now, if I’m willing?
John 4:27-45. Verse 35, related, evangelism opportunities abounding. With whom can I share the gospel today or one day soon—someone obvious that I’ve been overlooking?
