Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 2:1-12. Verse 4, what are some kinds of worldly clamor, intended to worry and scare us, that God dismisses with derisive laughter? If his Son has all this in hand, why need I be daunted by it?
I Samuel 10:1-27. Verse 27, how shall this man save us? Israel having rejected God, Saul becomes their king. What is my church doing to help bring politics under divine judgment?
Acts 4:23-31. Verses 29 and 31, boldness for the word of God. If I pray for this today and am given it, how will my attitudes and actions be different?
Mark 1:1-8. Related, what qualities did God endow in John the Baptist that equipped him to be the forerunner of Jesus? What would it look like for me to begin expressing more of those qualities today?
