Bible Thursday 1/12: Beatitudes

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 30:1-12. Verses 5 and 11, when have I experienced God’s joy overtaking earth’s sorrows? Present application?

Genesis 12:1-20. Verses 7 and 8, what place or what event in my life deserves an altar by which I can remember special proofs of God’s faithfulness?

Romans 4:1-12. Verses 3-5, what is God asking me to believe without evidence right now? Where can I find the strength to do that?

Matthew 5:1-12. Out of Jesus’ eight Beatitudes, which comes most naturally or least naturally to me? Which of the eight shall I make a special effort to practice today?
