Bible Thursday 10/16: Court of Appeals

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 115:1-18. Verses 3 and 18, what situation am I facing right now that seems too much for me—and to which I can say with unshaken faith, “But God”—?

I Chronicles 22:1-19. David makes preparations for his son Solomon to build the temple. What long-term purpose of God is evident in my family across the generations? What can and can’t I do here and now?

Ephesians 5:22-33. Verse 27, thinking about the current condition of my church, how do I see Jesus making it glorious and spotless, a worthy bride for him? How can I do my part in that?

Luke 16:14-18. Jesus rebukes the covetous Pharisees. What false scale of values will the worldly mind try to force upon me today? How shall I go about expressing the true values of Christ?
