Bible Wednesday 12/17: So Many in Need

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 119:1-48. Verses 47 and 48, what are some of God’s commandments that I love? How would others notice today that I love them?

Daniel 9:1-27. After pouring out his confession, Daniel gets another visit from Gabriel and a hint of the coming Messiah. How could God make greater use of me for kingdom work if I took confession more seriously?

I Thessalonians 4:1-8. What specific steps of sanctification can I recognize that God has accomplished in me during this past year? What additional steps of sanctification shall I watch, work, and pray for him to bring about in me in 2026?

Luke 11:37-41. Related, are there ways in which my actions as a Christian don’t match my talk? Does Jesus see something of the Pharisee in me, and it makes him sad? Does he want my Christmas to be more about almsgiving?
