Bible Sunday 1/4: Come and See

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 16:1-11. Verse 11, how have these promises of God specifically proved true for me in the past year? How shall I specifically count on him to fulfill them for me in this new year?

Ecclesiastes 4:1-16. The Preacher reflects on hardship, loneliness, injustice, privation. Verse 12, who’s in my threefold cord? Am I grateful for them and to them today?

I John 3:1-8. What is the unfinished work of the Son of God in defeating the devil’s designs upon me? What does he ask of me today, as this battle continues?

John 1:35-51. Related, verses 39 and 46, as when Jesus told his earliest disciples to “come and see,” what risky invitation is he giving me today—to get outside my comfort zone and know him better, enter the kingdom?
