Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 148:1-14. Looking at the world around us, do I see more evidence that all created things are praising the Lord or that they feel entitled to deny, defy, demean, or disregard him? What is my church doing about it? My role?
Exodus 13:1-22. Verses 17 and 18, God leads the Israelites out of Egypt by a roundabout way through the wilderness. When has God set me on a long wearisome path for my own good? Present application?
I Peter 3:13-22. Verse 15, if asked by a neighbor, what reason would I give for my hope in Jesus Christ? What steps can I take to be better prepared and practiced at this?
John 3:22-36. Verse 30, if it became my theme for the rest of 2025 that I must decrease and Jesus must increase, what would that look like in my daily life? How would others notice?
