Bible Sunday 5/4: Holy Fear

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 6:1-10. Verses 6-9, what is the deepest sorrow or darkest dread I am carrying right now? How can God make it more bearable for me today? What’s my simple, fervent prayer for this situation?

Exodus 15:1-27. Moses and the Israelites sing of God’s triumph at the Red Sea. What are some victories the Lord has won for me across the years, worthy of singing about today?

Revelation 15:1-8. What would it look like, on an ordinary day like today, to have God ministering to me with seven angels armed with seven plagues? How shall I vanquish the beast today—his image, mark, and name?

John 6:15-21. This morning, what is Jesus showing me, telling me, doing for me—that I need not be afraid?
