Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 89:1-52. Verse 15, know the joyful sound. What should I be listening for today, O Lord, in order to stay close to you? How can I tell the words and music of your truth from the enemy’s noise and lies?
Amos 6:1-14. Israel’s self-indulgence provokes God’s anger. When has a “me first, God and others last” attitude brought me to grief? Application to present needs?
II Peter 1:1-11. Verse 8, what would it look like today, in practical terms, for me to be fruitful in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ?
Mark 10:13-22. What is Jesus looking for when he tells me to be childlike— not childish—in seeking the kingdom of God?
