Bible Sunday 8/24: This Day

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 118:1-29. Verse 14, with this being the day the Lord has made, what good things can I expect from him? What bad things can I trust him to protect me from?

Joshua 14:1-15. Caleb, who had kept faith with God when others fell away, is duly rewarded. What evidence have I and my family experienced that shows we serve a promise-keeping God?

Acts 27:39-28:10. Delivered from shipwreck, Paul is soon found receiving healing and doing healings. Have I recently told myself I deserve a break from gospel work, a chance to coast a little? Says who?

Mark 14:12-21. What would I do if Jesus invited me to eat the passover with him tonight?
