Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 27:1-14. Verse 14, in what specific way am I being made to wait on the Lord right now? What makes me think that it is safe to do, that he can be relied on no matter what?
Joshua 6:1-40. Gideon, sensing God’s call to lead Israel against her oppressors, tries to bargain with him for assurances. When did I shrink back from what God was prompting me to do? What did I learn?
II Corinthians 9:1-15. Verses 7 and 8, God loves a cheerful giver, whom he won’t fail to equip and reward. So what am I waiting for? Action point for me today?
Luke 5:1-11. If I were to decide that this is the day I sign up with Jesus to become a fisher of men at a whole new level of effort and risk, what would my first step be? And the next step, and the one after than?
