Bible Thursday 1/22: Free to Choose

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 56:1-13. Verses 4, 10, 12, how will this day be different if I double my focus on praising God as well as asking him for things?

Deuteronomy 11:1-32. Verses 26-28, Israel is given a stark choice—to obey God and be blessed, or to disobey him and be cursed. In what subtle ways does this play out for me on a “typical” day like today?

Hebrews 10:1-10. By what attitudes and actions can I render thanks to Jesus Christ today for having taken away my sins by his self-offering on the cross?

Matthew 6:16-21. What is my treasure? Is it stored on earth or in heaven? What do I intend to use it for? How can I increase it today? Shall I ask Jesus to be my wealth manager?
