Bible Monday 1/12: Hunger and Thirst

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 30:1-12. Verses 2, 5, 11, our God is a mighty healer, a joy bringer who robes me with gladness. What am I asking him to heal for me today?

Deuteronomy 1:1-46. The Israelites, so near the Promised Land but yet so far, are lectured by Moses on how slow they were to learn. When have I been slow to learn and tried God’s patience?

Hebrews 4:14-5:10. What infirmities, temptations, and sufferings have I undergone that Jesus can identify with? How does this strengthen me for today?

Matthew 5:1-12. These eight Beatitudes that Jesus gave us are made up of 4 P’s, 3 M’s, and 1 H, I learned long ago. What if I camp on them for once an hour in the eight hours of this day? How will it change my day?
