Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 25:1-22. This whole psalm is about my desire to learn under God’s hand: teach me, lead me, show me, guide me. How does that occur: by reading, study, discussion, imitation, listening, trial and error? In what specific ways can I be a better disciple today?
Ecclesiastes 10:1-11:10. Related, as my day draws on toward the evening, shall I learn better what it means to cast my bread on the waters, verse 11:1?
Hebrews 3:12-19. Related again, as the passing years require of me a long obedience in the same direction, how do unbelief and spiritual laziness try to creep in? How shall I combat those today as a partaker of Christ?
Matthew 4:12-17. What does the repentance that Jesus called for look like in my life here and now today, January 2026? How can I start partaking of the kingdom of heaven immediately?
