Bible Sunday 3/22: No Fear

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 55:1-23. Verse 22, what burden that has been weighing me down shall I cast on the Lord today? As he sustains me, what will that specifically look like?

Jeremiah 37:1-21. Simply for speaking God’s truth, the prophet is beaten and imprisoned—but then the king begins to show him mercy. Is discipleship costing me anything, or am I just coasting?

II Timothy 1:1-18. Verse 7, in what way have I recently been laboring under a spirit of fear? How will things be better today if I rely instead on God for a spirit of power, of love, and of a sound mind?

Matthew 17:22-27. With a miracle Jesus arranges for Peter to pay a government tribute, even though he privately insists it’s not owed. Shouldn’t I and my church pray harder for political discernment, starting now?
