Bible Friday 3/6: The Pearl

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 16:1-11. Verses 4-6, beware the subtle ways in which we can become entangled with false gods. What are some examples of such idols that may tempt me? How shall I protect against their allure?

Jeremiah 21:1-14. Jeremiah tells the king God has decreed Judah will be conquered by Babylon. When have I faced a choice between blowing up a relationship with someone or betraying God’s truth?

Romans 14:14-23. Verse 15, is there an individual or group I don’t like very well, but whom I may see with new eyes if I remember that they, no less than myself, are counted among those “for whom Christ died”?

Matthew 13:44-52. Do I treasure Jesus as the one pearl of great price, worth sacrificing everything for—or do I value him somewhat less? How would others notice?
