Bible Monday 5/25: Joy from Sorrow

Studying this morning's readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 67:1-7. Verse 2, make known God’s saving health. How does this differ from mere bodily health? How can I partake of God’s saving health today?

Ezekiel 46:1-24. Further precise directions for Israel’s sacrificial worship of the Lord. Have I ever had the shock of realizing that my devotions, though diligent, were simply on the wrong track? How did God show up?

Acts 2:22-35. Peter’s sermon on Pentecost proclaims Jesus Christ crucified and risen. What makes this a better message than most we hear preached? If I take it to heart, how does everything change for me?

John 16:16-24. Related, why is the joy that Jesus gives different and better than any joy the world gives? If I have it today, how will others notice?
