Bible Wednesday 7/15: A Girl Set Free

Studying this morning's readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 37: 1-40. Verses 1 and 8, God warns us against a fretful, fearful, doubting disposition. When the storm-clouds gather, will i be found worrying or praying? It’s one or the other.

II Samuel 21:1-22. David and his fighters continue Judah’s long struggle against the Goliath clan of giants. How can I call on God for stamina and staying power today, as troubles keep rolling in like the surf?

Acts 16:16-24. For the crime of freeing a young woman from an evil spirit, Paul and Silas are beaten and jailed. What are the powerful economic forces today, working to silence Jesus? My church’s response?

Mark 9:2-13. Since I can listen as Peter and the others did—not in person, but through Scripture—to Moses, Elijah, Jesus, and even God the Father, conversing about salvation, what would they tell me to do?
