Radio, Nov. 19: Welcome to Planet Pelosi

Join us on radio every Sunday, 5-8pm on 710 KNUS, Denverand now also on 1460 KZNT, Colorado Springs To listen online from anywhere, click 710knus.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------ RUSH & TOWNHALL took note of us this week! See details at bottom. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ SHOW PREVIEW, NOV. 19... Like it or not, she'll be Speaker of the House. Nancy Pelosi's arrival isn't to my liking from the standpoint of keeping America safe, taxes down, and our values strong. But we may like her object lesson of why Democrats shouldn't get the White House in 2008. And Planet Pelosi will be an unruly place, judging from her setback in the Hoyer-Murtha race this week. How unfortunate.

I'll preview the next two years of Democrat dominance, with Madame Speaker stirring up DC and Governor Bill Ritter leading Colorado, tomorrow on "Backbone Radio with John Andrews." Though we'll have no bar scene this week (with thanks to all who came to Lodo's for our birthday last week), expect high energy with guests like Jon Caldara and Jim Spencer. Plan to listen in and call in.

** Why does the usually smiling Caldara, Independence Institute president and broadcaster, have a scowl for Republicans, who he says got what they deserve on Nov. 7? I'll ask Jon.

** Will Spencer need a calm-down prescription to restrain the glee in his Denver Post column as Dems assume full control of the state in January? Our clinic will diagnose.

** What does Richard V. Allen, Reagan's first national security adviser, foresee in Iraq and the wider World War IV as Rumsfeld departs and Pelosi arrives? Hear Dick's insights.

** With Hillary eying health care again, why not seek a capitalist solution instead? I'll interview David Gratzer of the Manhattan Institute, who has a new book saying just that.

** What's Teen Mania? It's not a magazine or a mall store, but a Christian ministry whose director, Ron Luce, joins me to talk about his book, "Battle Cry for a Generation."

"Backbone Radio with John Andrews" is the most principled, most patriotic, most faith-based, most Colorado-proud spot on your weekend radio dial. We're into our third year, and conservatives have never needed this show more than right now, as we dig out after the 2006 election debacle. Please join us this Sunday.

Yours for self-government, JOHN ANDREWS ----------------------------------------------------------------------- RUSH LIMBAUGH read on the air last Monday, part of my column from the 11/11 Rocky (see two posts below this one) about Denver media ignoring illegal alien crimes in their eagerness to elect Bill Ritter. The piece was linked on his website for 24 hours thereafter. Flattering, but the question remains: Will Gov. Ritter now make our whole state a sanctuary? ------------------------------------------------------------------------ TOWNHALL.COM, the powerhouse conservative website affiliated with Salem Radio, 710 KNUS, Hugh Hewitt and the gang, today carries my 11/19 Denver Post column (see post just above this one) on why Thanksgiving transcends politics. Flattering again, but more to the point is our sincere wish from the Andrews house to your house for a blessed Thanksgiving in the old pilgrim spirit.

Radio, Nov. 12: Live from Lodo's & you're invited

As noted at right, Backbone Radio this Sunday will marktwo years on the air -- and do our part in rallying the troops after an ugly election night -- with a birthday party at Lodo's in Highlands Ranch, SE corner C-470 & Quebec. ----------------------------------------------------- Please stop by any time from 5-8pm for fellowship, food, and most important, a lift to your spirits as we regroup for victory next time! ---------------------------------------------------- Join us on radio every Sunday, 5-8pm on 710 KNUS, Denver and now also on 1460 KZNT, Colorado Springs To listen online from anywhere, click 710knus.com ----------------------------------------------------------------------- SHOW PREVIEW... "Undaunted courage." That phrase from the Lewis and Clark journals became the title of Stephen Ambrose's book about their expedition. They had a determination no adversity could shake. Zebulon Pike and his men brought the same kind of backbone to their exploration of Colorado for Jefferson in 1806, as noted in my latest Denver Post column.

The election debacle now puts Republicans and conservatives to the test: Is our courage daunted by this adversity? It must not be, say I. So let's have a gut check on Sunday's edition of "Backbone Radio with John Andrews."

The show marks our second anniversary on the air, and we'll be live on location at Lodo's in Highlands Ranch, SE corner of C-470 & Quebec, 5-8pm on Sunday, Nov. 12. Stop by our birthday party if you can, otherwise catch us by broadcast or online. You're warmly invited!

** Congressman-elect Doug Lamborn and Secretary of State-elect Mike Coffman, two of the GOP winners from Tuesday (when there weren't very many), will join me for a review of the campaign and a look ahead.

** Jay Ambrose, conservative columnist for the Rocky Mountain News, and Mike Littwin, one of the Rocky's liberal columnists, will stop by with their contrasting analysis of Colorado's big blue tide.

** And Prof. Andrew Busch, the ex-DU political scientist now at Claremont McKenna College, weighs in on the current Republican difficulties from his perspective as a Reagan biographer.

"Backbone Radio with John Andrews" is the most principled, most patriotic, most faith-based, most Colorado-proud spot on your weekend radio dial. We're now at 105 Sundays and counting. Conservatives have never needed this show more than right now, as we dig out after the 2006 tsunami. See you Sunday!

Yours for self-government, JOHN ANDREWS

Radio, Nov. 5: Election eve

Join us on radio every Sunday, 5-8pm on 710 KNUS, Denverand now also on 1460 KZNT, Colorado Springs To listen online from anywhere, click 710knus.com ----------------------------------------------------------------------- SAVE THE DATE, SUNDAY, NOV. 12... Backbone birthday party and post-election bash, Lodo's in Highlands Ranch, 5-8pm. Come out and help us celebrate two years of the show. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ SHOW PREVIEW FOR NOV. 5... The final GOTV push is on, poll numbers are bouncing unreliably, and wild cards like the Kerry slur on our military are putting earlier sure bets in doubt. Sunday's edition of "Backbone Radio with John Andrews" will be the night before the night before the votes are counted.

We've got one of our strongest lineups since going on the air two years ago. This is appointment radio. Please plan to listen in and call in. Topics and guests will include:

** How will the conservative new media offset the liberal old media in key races across the country? We'll ask Scott Johnson, one of the founders of PowerlineBlog.com.

** Why must we keep a Republican Congress and elect Rick O'Donnell as part of it? Rick's fireball campaign manager, K.C. Jones, will bring her never-bashful answer.

** What's at stake issue by issue in trusting the Governor's office to conservative Bob Beauprez instead of liberal Bill Ritter? Former candidate Marc Holtzman joins me.

** How would a GOP majority change directions in the State House? Rep. Mike May, quarterback for House races and probably the next Speaker if his team wins, tells us.

** Why limit the judges? Could New Jersey happen here? What benefits would Colorado realize from "ten and out" under Amendment 40? Ken Buck, DA in Greeley, weighs in.

** And lest we forget those countless local races and ballot issues, former Centennial councilwoman Betty Ann Habig gives us an example -- her city's big TABOR tax grab.

"Backbone Radio with John Andrews" is the most principled, most patriotic, most faith-based, most Colorado-proud spot on your weekend radio dial. Conservatives in the West have never needed this show more than right now, Election Eve 2006. See you Sunday!

Yours for self-government, JOHN ANDREWS

Radio, Oct. 29: Imperial judges strike again

Join us on radio every Sunday, 5-8pm on 710 KNUS, Denverand now also on 1460 KZNT, Colorado Springs To listen online from anywhere, click 710knus.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Who do they think they are? Imperial judges are more and more aggressive in dictating to we the people. Now it's the New Jersey Supreme Court, ordering legislators to enact same-sex unions. If there was any doubt that Colorado needs Amendment 40 to curb the runaway courts, and Amendment 43 (along with No on Ref I) to protect traditional marriage in our state, this should remind us what's at stake.

Yes on 40: Limit the Judges is coming on strong as election day nears. I'll have a report on our campaign -- and on the late-breaking move to retire Judge Marquez, the worst member of the Appeals Court -- this Sunday on "Backbone Radio with John Andrews." Our show is essential voter education with Nov. 7 fast approaching. Please listen in and call in.

** Government takings from private landowners are one of the many imperialist moves by Colorado's appellate courts, as you'll hear on this show from Dick Johnston, author of "Property Rights Die," the story of a Kelo-type ruling in 2002 called Lobato vs. Taylor.

** Another important election in the hemisphere occurs on Nov. 5, when the diehard Marxist Daniel Ortega seeks a return to power in Nicaragua. We'll talk about it with that country's ambassador in Washington, Salvador Stadthagen.

** Also joining me will be CU Regent Steve Bosley, Hank Brown's ally in draining the Boulder swamp... Chief Deputy Attorney General Cynthia Coffman, our state's delegate to the recent White House summit on school safety... and Medicaid expert Devon Herrick with ideas on market reforms in health care.

Please tell your friends about "Backbone Radio with John Andrews." America and the West, still not fully aroused to the threat we face five years after 9/11, need a lot more backbone right now. We're committed to helping. How about you?

Yours for self-government, JOHN ANDREWS

Radio, Oct. 22: Democracy for the unborn

Join us on radio every Sunday, 5-8pm on 710 KNUS, Denverand now also on 1460 KZNT, Colorado Springs To listen online from anywhere, click 710knus.com ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Ever since 1973, the democratic process and the conscience of the American people have been forbidden from arbitrating between the baby's right to life and the mother's "right to choose."

But on Nov. 7 in South Dakota, that long-silent voice will at last be heard as voters decide on Measure 6, a referred law to ban nearly all abortions in that state. No ballot issue in the country (certainly not my proposal for judicial term limits) is nearly as important as this one. See full details at VoteYesforLife.com.

Dr. Allen Unruh, a leader in the South Dakota campaign to reclaim a place in our democracy for the unborn child, disallowed for a generation by lawless and heartless judges, is my guest on the Oct. 22 edition of "Backbone Radio with John Andrews." Be sure to listen.

I'll also talk with state Rep. Debbie Stafford about Yes on 40: Limit the Judges... with Littleton city councilman Doug Clark about the TABOR battle raging there... with school reformer Jeanne Allen about No Child Left Behind... and with US Attorney Troy Eid, the son of Arab immigrants whom Bush recently named as Colorado's top federal prosecutor.

Please tell your friends about "Backbone Radio with John Andrews." America and the West, still not fully aroused to the threat we face five years after 9/11, need a lot more backbone right now. We're committed to helping. How about you?
