Bible Tuesday 11/22: Watchfulness

Psalms 120, 121, 122, and 123. How can I deepen the habit of constantly lifting my mental gaze toward God's high throne, even to God's face, on these busy days (verses 121:1 and 123:1, 2)?

Isaiah 27:1-13. How has modern materialism dulled me to the reality of spiritual conflict between the serpent or dragon of active evil and the strong sword of God (verse 1)?

Revelation 3:1-6. Relating verses 2-3 here to both readings above, what are the qualities and practices of that watchfulness Jesus is asking of me?

Luke 21:34-38. Yet another command for us to be watchful. With what specific distractions might my "heart be overcharged" (verse 34), leading to a lapse in vigilance?

These are some of the questions I asked myself in studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide. Click and see what you think.  Where is your self-examination leading today?
