Bible Tuesday 11/7: Count the Cost

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalm 62:1-12. Verse 9 KJV, in what way do I falsely value or devalue individuals according to their age, appearance, wealth, or status? How does God's measurement differ from mine?

II Chronicles 18:1-34. Verses 12-13, how is the church today -- or how am I personally -- pulled into this pattern of the less-powerful telling the more-powerful what they want to hear?

I Thessalonians 1:1-10. Verse 6 KJV, what affliction has come to me with living by God's word? What joy? What added measure of each might I experience in the future?

Luke 14:25-35. What cross is mine to bear right now as Jesus' disciple, exactly in the life circumstances where I find myself? Am I doing it fully, or partly, or hardly at all?
