Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalm 88:1-18. Here is the Psalmist far gone but not utterly gone; he can still cry out to God. When have I felt as nearly hopeless as this? How did it work out? What did I learn?
Genesis 41:1-57. In using Joseph to rescue Egypt from famine, was God setting up what would become the Israelites' long captivity there? If yes, why would God purpose such a thing?
Romans 4:1-12. Where do I tend to have blind spots about faith alone, not works, putting me right with God? Seeing through those, what might be different about me that others would notice?
Matthew 11:7-15. Looking at politics, economics, culture, and religion today, where do we see examples of people trying to take the kingdom of heaven by force (verse 12, KJV)?
