Bible Saturday 2/11: Zion Birth Certificate

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalm 87:1-7. Timely amid all the controversy about"who belongs" is this psalm on what might be called a Zion birth certificate. How do I get one of those? Why is it valuable?

Genesis 42:1-38. When has God used a guilty conscience to wake me up and straighten me out (verses 21, 28)? What did I learn?

Romans 4:13-25. What promise of God to me seems too good to be true, such as to stagger me with unbelief (verse 20, KJV)?  Dare I reaffirm today my patient unwavering belief in that promise?

Matthew 11:16-24. What highs and lows in the news or in my own life tempt me to the childish mood swings Jesus rebukes here (verses 16-17)?  What's the spiritual antidote to keep me even-tempered?
