Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalm 113:1-9. We serve a God who humbles himself for us, as the Psalmist knew even centuries before Christ came as a peasant baby (verse 6). How can I more fully humble myself today?
Song of Solomon 6:1-13. Today how shall I let Jesus intimately be, for me, both lovely as a garden and terrible (fearsome) as an army (verses 2-4)?
I Peter 1:1-12. When has my faith been tried by fire (verse 7)? What need did God see for doing so (verse 6)? How did it turn out? What did I learn?
John 1:1-18. What has been my experience of being born anew as a child of God (verses 12-13)? Does that birthday, or my material one, more honestly define my outlook and way of life?
