Bible Friday 6/23: Culture Contagion

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalm 88:1-18. What is the closest I have ever come, or seen someone come, to feeling this estranged from God?  What rescued me from the brink of despair? What did I learn?

Leviticus 18:1-30. Verse 3, God warns his people not to behave like the surrounding culture that  doesn't revere him. Where do Christians fall down on this? What is my church doing about it?

Acts 5:33-42. Verse 41, who do I know that has suffered shame for the name of Jesus? What does it take? How does it advance the Kingdom? Could I rise to such an occasion?

Mark 2:1-12. Who do I know in need of healing that I could help "bring" to Jesus  by prayer and action? What helpers can I recruit? What "roof" might we have to remove?
