Bible Saturday 8/12: Born in Zion

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalm 87:1-7. Verses 5-6, if we think of this as a Zion birth certificate, what birthright comes with it and how do I access that? What relevance to my most urgent need today?

Joshua 5:1-15. Verse 9 KJV, what "reproach of Egypt" burdens or taints me, that I would pray God to roll off me? Freed of that, what would a new beginning look like?

Acts 19:23 - 20:1. Applying verses 25-27 to America in 2017, how does the gospel of Jesus Christ threaten established money interests, popular idols, and fashionable self-esteem?

Mark 11:27-33. When have I seen Christian leaders speak or act to score political and PR points rather than to witness for Jesus? Prayer for today?
