Bible Wednesday 1/17: How to Pray

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 119:25-48. Verse 36 KJV, why are a covetous outlook and a godly outlook mutually exclusive? What am I tempted to covet? Prayer point?

Deuteronomy 20:1-20. One of the many Old and New Testament passages showing that God does not command pacifism. Is my church clear on this? Are my prayer life and my civic life aligned accordingly?

Hebrews 9:1-10. Verse 8, how can I rely more on the Holy Spirit, and "lean not on my own understanding," for interpreting difficult biblical history and doctrine?

Matthew 6:5-15. How can I weave the Lord's Prayer more fully into my daily life, routine, and outlook?
