Bible Tuesday 3/13: Chastening

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 94:1-23. Verses 10-13, what's happening in my life right now that might be God's chastening hand, his correction and teaching? Action point?

Jeremiah 41:1-18. Gedaliah was humanly astute enough to be made governor (40:7) but spiritually dull enough to want Jeremiah dead (38:1) and ignore warnings of his own death (40:14). What's the lesson here for me?

Romans 15:7-13. What blind spots are preventing me from seeing that Jesus is for everyone, no exceptions, as Paul insists here? Action point?

Matthew 18:15-20. Verse 19, Jesus promises to grant our petitions. Verse 20, he promises his very presence. On which promise do I focus more? What am I thereby missing out on?
