Bible Friday 5/18: Sanctify

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 107:1-43. Verses 6 and 8, petition-provision-praise, repeat four times in this psalm. Am I at home or not with a simple repetitive address to God, day after day? Why or why not?

Ezekiel 48:1-35. Am I at home or not with the many scriptures giving the twelve tribes special status in perpetuity? Why are the Jews and Israel uniquely controversial through the ages?

Joel 1:11-20. What part does fasting play in my Christian life, and in the life of my church? Action point?

John 17:20-26. How faithfully do I and my church take up Jesus' prayer that all his followers might be one? What practical steps in this direction can I or we take in our own locale?
