Bible Thursday 5/17: In But Not Of

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 105:1-45. Verses 17-22, how God used Joseph. When has adversity in my experience turned out to serve an unseen godly purpose? Application for a challenge I'm facing now?

Ezekiel 47:1-23. Verses 6-12, compare with Revelation 22, last chapter of the Bible. How can I access this spiritual river for healing and these spiritual trees for food and medicine?

Joel 1:1-10. In our time, who takes on this role of telling the faithful hard things they'd rather not hear? How is our generation displeasing God, and what are the consequences?

John 17:11-19. Often summarized as being in the world but not of it, a balance. As a witness for Jesus, do I right now need to be more "in the world," or less so? First step?
