Bible Friday 6/8: The Cross

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 40:1-17. Verse 10, how can I give this kind of open witness for God today? What can I testify from experience? Who needs to hear this personally from me?

I Samuel 20:1-42. With whom, other than my spouse and family, have I had a bond of friendship like that of David and Jonathan? Did it draw me closer to God? Present application?

Acts 8:4-13. Today how do we encounter the dark arts here called sorcery or bewitching? What allure do these have for Christians in general, or me and my church?

John 19:28-37. What relevance or benefit do Jesus' last words, "It is finished," have for me in doing what I must do today, being who I am today?
