Bible Sunday 8/5: Made Flesh

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 93:1-5. What are some of the floods and waves now threatening our country, my family, and me? In what specific ways does God counter and calm each of these?

II Kings 1:1-18. What are some of the false gods or idols trusted by leaders in America today? What are the consequences? Is my church responding with the severity of Elijah?

II Peter 1:1-11. Verse 4 KJV, in what way obvious to others do I want to partake more fully of the divine nature? What particular aspects of corruption do I want God's help escaping from?

John 1:1-18. Verse 12, though as to status I am a son of God through Christ right now, as to conduct it's a process. What qualities of sonship do I want his help expressing more fully?
