Bible Thursday 7/12: Leaps Tall Buildings

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 18:1-50. Repeats II Samuel 22, David's "prayer journal," noted yesterday. Verse 29, what wall can God help me leap today? Verse 33, where do I need nimble feet? Verse 34, what fighting skill do I need from him?

II Samuel 23:1-39. Honor roll of David's warriors. How can I do better at sharing credit with others? What persons are God's gift in my life right now? In years past?

Acts 18:24-28. Related point, who has been for me a "mighty" teacher and mentor in biblical faith, as Apollos was for believers at Ephesus and Corinth? Have I thanked them?

Mark 4:13-20. Why does Jesus say we miss all his parables if we miss this one? Of the three menaces to spiritual growth, which gets at me the most? How can I counter that?
