Bible Tuesday 8/21: Fruitless

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 127:1-5. Verse 2, what are some implications in my life right now, of God's word telling me sleep is a gift of love from Him?

II Kings 17:1-41. Verses 17 and 31, child sacrifice 2700 years ago. Is this any different from millions of babies killed in the womb since 1973? What more could my church do for the unborn?

Philippians 4:1-9. Verse 8, what situation in my life today calls for putting this into practice? What would God's peace, breaking in as a result, specifically look like (verses 7 and 9)?

Mark 11:12-14. What kind of fruit does Jesus expect from me? On his timeline or my own? Would he require this of me and not empower me to fulfill it? What are the consequences of letting him down?
