Bible Sunday 1/27: Tough Love

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 95:1-11. Verses 1 and 3, same question as yesterday, do I hunger and thirst for God, or just fit him into my life? Do I have a dive-deep or a drive-by relationship with him?

Genesis 27:1-46. Rebekah’s swindle. What is the most manipulative or dishonest situation I’ve ever been involved in? How did it abuse God (verse 20)? How did God show up?

Hebrews 3:1-11. If Jesus Christ builds people as though they were houses, whether Moses (verse 3) or you and me (verse 6), how does that guide my response to whatever this day brings?

Matthew 8:14-22. Verse 22, what excuses do I tend to make to Jesus? How do I get distracted from him and procrastinate? Action point?
