Bible Friday 4/5: Strive

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 102:1-28. Verses 16-21, what is my most fervent prayer right now? What does Zion have to do with God’s answer to that prayer?

Ecclesiastes 11:1-10. Verses 4-6, where in my life right now am I being too controlling and cautious, not trustful and bold enough? Today how can I be more God-reliant and less self-reliant, less weather-dependent?

Philippians 1:27-2:4. Fellowship in Christ spelled out. With whom do I currently experience this? Who leads it and feeds it? How can we deepen it and widen it? Why does it matter?

Matthew 24:1-14. Verses 5 and 11, false Christs and false prophets. Where are these now appearing, if not as persons then as belief systems? Am I in any way taken in by them?
