Bible Friday 4/19: Christ Crucified

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 22:1-31. Seeing that Jesus himself prayed the Psalms at times of great need (verse 1, comparing Matthew 27:46), how can I likewise do more of this? Verse 24, what specific need does this meet for me?

Zechariah 13:1-9. Verse 7, when has the seeming unavailability of Christ to shepherd me, left me wandering and discouraged like one of the scattered sheep? How did God show up?

Habakkuk 2:1-20. Verses 14 and 20, don’t these lofty promises seem hollow as I picture God’s Son in agony on the cross?

Matthew 26:57-27:61. Verse 55, what enabled the women to stay faithful during the crucifixion when most of the men fled? What’s the lesson for me? Who is a woman I know that exemplifies this kind of fidelity?
