Bible Monday 8/12: ID Card

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 89:1-52. Verse 6, God incomparable. What am I tempted to compare with God, or to put ahead of him in my daily thoughts and activities? How shall I counter that today?

Numbers 36:1-13. Tribal rules for marriage and property. What is good and not so good about people identifying themselves by “tribe”? How is this aspect of Moses’ law superseded under Christ’s gospel?

Acts 17:16-34. Verse 28, how can this identification, specifically applied to myself, make a difference in my day today?

Mark 12:13-17. Overall, how are Christians in America doing today on this balance of rendering to Caesar and to God? What are the stakes? What is my church doing about it? My role?
