Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 109:1-31. Verse 31, what if every time today that I see someone who seems hard to look at or negligible, I picture Jesus standing right next to them, strong to save? How will my perception change?
Joshua 5:1-15. Verse 9 KJV, rolled away the reproach of Egypt. What “surgery of the heart,” perhaps painful, might I need in order to be purified for God’s service in this chapter of my life?
Acts 19:11-20. Verse 19, related question, what beliefs or practices incompatible with God’s truth do I need to be radically rid of, starting now? What’s the fallacy in assuming book-burning is always wrong?
Mark 12:41-13:2. The widow’s mite. Who do I know that exemplifies this kind of trustful, joyful, sacrificial giving? What’s one step I can immediately take to be more like that?
